Year 6 Transition Information
Transition 2024 - 2025
The move to secondary school brings many changes and can be daunting for students. At EEHS, we value the importance of transition and strive for all students to make the best possible start to our school.
What we think good transition looks like?
· Social adjustment: students developing new friendships and improve self-esteem and confidence.
· Institutional adjustment: students getting used to new routines and school organisation quickly.
· Curriculum interest continuity: students experience curriculum continuity at an appropriate level of challenge in their learning. Show interest and engagement in school and schoolwork.
With this in mind, we have developed a range of events to support our new students with their transition to secondary school 2024/25. Please see key events below:
Transition day (Tuesday 2nd July, 8.40 am - 2.30pm): All children are invited to experience a day at EEHS ready for September.
New Parent Induction (Tuesday 2nd July, 5:30pm to 7pm): this will include a presentation from the Headteacher and the Head of Year on how to prepare for secondary school and a chance to meet the form tutors. We will contact parents with more information about this evening.
Invite only events: The school runs small sessions aimed at vulnerable students who feel anxious about the secondary transition and students who are not part of a larger transition cohort. Note: we will contact your current teachers or parents directly about signing up for these sessions.
