Transition 2023 - 2024
The move to secondary school brings many changes and can be daunting for students. At EEHS, we value the importance of transition and strive for all students to make the best possible start to our school.
What we think good transition looks like?
- Social adjustment: students developing new friendships and improve self-esteem and confidence.
- Institutional adjustment: students getting used to new routines and school organisation quickly.
- Curriculum interest continuity: students experience curriculum continuity at an appropriate level of challenge in their learning. Show interest and engagement in school and schoolwork.
With this in mind, we have developed a range of events to support our new students with their transition to secondary school 2023/24. Please see key events below:
Inclusion afternoons aimed at vulnerable students who feel anxious about the secondary transition. Note: we will contact your current teachers about signing up for these sessions.
Enrichment afternoons all children are invited to experience a range of subjects in our new facilities. Each session will include PE and at least one other subject/activity. Enrichment afternoons are being held on Monday 19th June and Friday 23rd June between 1.00pm - 2.40pm. Children should be dropped off and collected from the new sports pavilion gate, down the pathway to the side of the school. They can wear trainers and should bring a water bottle. Staff will register them on arrival. Unfortunately, there is no parking on site for these sessions.
Transition day (Tuesday 27th June, 9am - 2.30pm): All children are invited to experience a day at EEHS ready for September.
New Parent Induction (Wednesday 28th June, 5:30 to 6:30pm): this will include a presentation from the Head of Year on how to prepare for secondary school and a chance to meet the form tutors. We will contact parents with more information about this evening.
